Planned Parenthood protects rapists

For the past several weeks, it has been difficult to search for “Planned Parenthood” on the internet without finding an article about how it has refused to report suspected rape and molestation of minors to the authorities. Headlines include:

Planned Parenthood failed to report incest Planned Parenthood didn't tell, suit says Planned Parenthood concealing crimes? Even the Wednesday STOPP Report has included items about this scandal in the past couple of issues.

We decided to devote the entire issue of this week’s Wednesday STOPP Report to bring you breaking information on this important subject.A history of Planned Parenthood’s illegal activityThere is no way of telling definitively how long Planned Parenthood has been protecting rapists. But here is just a sampling of the events pulled from American Life League’s archives:
Arizona In 1998, a 12-year-old girl in Glendale, Arizona, who was raped by her foster brother, had an abortion at Planned Parenthood and PP never reported the rape to authorities. Finally, when the same girl went to Planned Parenthood six months later for another abortion, PP did notify authorities and the foster brother was arrested and convicted. The girl sued Planned Parenthood for failing to report the rape the first time and a judge ruled that PP was negligent for not initially reporting the rape. Court documents report the girl reached a settlement in the case.
California In 1999, an 11-year-old girl in California went to Planned Parenthood of the Golden Gate. She told Planned Parenthood that she had been raped, but asked PP not to tell anyone, including her parents. Of course, the law is clear; regardless of the girl’s desires, when an 11-year-old is raped, there are mandatory reporting requirements. In December of 2005 Planned Parenthood of the Golden Gate featured a letter from the girl on its website. The girl wrote in praise of Planned Parenthood for helping her keep her rape secret. After American Life League exposed this letter and publicly denounced Planned Parenthood’s inaction the letter was immediately taken down. (However, the letter can still be found on the internet archive.)
Ohio In November 2004 a 16-year-old-girl was brought to a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Cincinnati and forced to have an abortion by her father. The girl says she told the Planned Parenthood employee that her father was forcing her to have sex. Planned Parenthood did not report the abuse and the father continued to rape the girl for another year and a half. On May 9, 2007 the girl filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio for refusing to report the rape. The same Planned Parenthood affiliate is also being sued for not reporting the rape of a 14-year-old girl by her soccer coach.
Connecticut A 22-year-old man was arrested this month in New London, Connecticut for raping a 14-year-old girl and getting her pregnant three times in six months. Newspaper reports say it was the girl’s mother that alerted authorities, not the abortion facility. Although newspaper accounts do not identify the abortion facility involved, Mark Crutcher of Life Dynamics in Denton, Texas told the Wednesday STOPP Report that he has a copy of the police reports and it was a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Norwich, Connecticut.Life Dynamics’ important workMark Crutcher has been at the forefront in calling attention to the outrageous activities of Planned Parenthood in protecting those who prey on our children.In 2002, he conducted an undercover investigation to determine how widespread the practice of Planned Parenthood protecting child predators is. He had a young woman, posing as a 13-year-old girl, call over 800 Planned Parenthood and National Abortion Federation facilities across the country, telling the clinic personnel that her 22-year-old boyfriend got her pregnant and asking how she could get an abortion without getting her boyfriend in trouble.In all 50 states clinic workers are required by law to report known sexual activity between a 13-year-old and an adult, yet the Life Dynamics investigation found that 91 percent of the time, Planned Parenthood advised the girl on how to protect the child predator.Planned Parenthood tries to intimidate young student reporterAs Lila Rose, a student at UCLA, heard about all these accusations against Planned Parenthood, she decided to conduct her own undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood in her community. On several occasions she visited various abortion clinics posing as a 15 year old who, she told clinic staff, was impregnated by her 23-year-old boyfriend. Her conversations with the staff were recorded by a video camera that she concealed in her bag.Once again, Planned Parenthood staff tried to help her cover up what was described as a case of statutory rape. Under California law, PP was required to report her sexual activity if she was 15, but would not have to report it if she was 16. In one such recording, a Planned Parenthood employee can be heard instructing Rose to “say you are 16,” and then instructed her to lie on the forms: “Just figure out a birth date that works. And I don't know anything."When Planned Parenthood was confronted in public with this taped violation of California law, its response was to attack Lila. Shortly after the videos and articles exposing Planned Parenthood became public Planned, Parenthood threatened legal action against her. According to California law it is illegal to record people unless all members being taped are aware of it. In compliance with the law, Rose has handed over the videos to Planned Parenthood and has removed them from the internet.Incredibly, Planned Parenthood in California disregards the laws that protect minors, but insists on adherence to laws that protect Planned Parenthood. Obviously, its priorities are all messed up.What can you do?We believe that this entire subject will be key in the eventual destruction of Planned Parenthood. All of us who fight Planned Parenthood rightly emphasize the huge numbers of children it kills and the way it steals the souls of our teens. But its protection of child predators is something that surpasses both of the others in terms of encouraging people to oppose Planned Parenthood.Just this week, American Life League’s Rock for Life Ventura chapter was outside a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Los Angeles. The members report that even avidly pro-abortion individuals are upset with Planned Parenthood about its protection of child predators.If we focus on this issue, we can hasten the demise of Planned Parenthood. Here are some of the things we encourage you to do:
FOCUS – While maintaining all your ongoing efforts against Planned Parenthood, every organization fighting PP should identify one person who will focus on the child predator issue. KNOW – Get the background information on this whole effort at Child Predators and be prepared to answer questions. Your organization should also know the mandatory reporting laws in your state. Every state has them. RESEARCH – Find out about the Planned Parenthood facilities in your area. How many customers under the age of 15 does it claim to have? How many reports has it filed with the authorities about the sexual activities of these customers? If you need help getting this information, just send us an e-mail. Put “researcher” in the subject line and we will get you in touch with a professional researcher who has already helped a number of groups get this data. FUNDING – Find out if your local PP clinic gets funds from Title X or other government programs. All these programs require that PP adhere to all state mandatory reporting rules. If PP is not reporting, it will not only lose all future funds, but it will have to pay back past funds received. TAKE ACTION – Based on everything you find out, you should take action to bring Planned Parenthood to justice. Among the things you should do: Document your findings in a report that can be given out to interested people. Educate your local community through press releases, press conferences, letters to the editor and fliers. American Life League has a one-page flier that you can download. You can make copies and distribute them. You can even run the flier as an ad in your local newspapers (including the popular “shoppers” news). Ask your local district attorney, in light of the growing evidence around the country of Planned Parenthood’s involvement in protecting rapists, to launch an investigation of your local Planned Parenthood to ensure it is properly reporting. Ask the government agencies that are funding Planned Parenthood to conduct a thorough audit of your local Planned Parenthood to ensure it is complying with all mandatory reporting requirements. If your local Planned Parenthood clinic receives Title X funding (you can see the list of Title X recipients by state), ask your elected members of Congress to request the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct an audit. Inform parents in your area that, if they find out their under-age children are receiving contraceptives or abortions at Planned Parenthood, they may be able to file a report. Send them to Parental Alert. American Life League will be working closely with Life Dynamics on this effort and we encourage everyone who is serious about fighting Planned Parenthood to take action in your local communities.

Lila Rose, 18, is a sophomore at UCLA and the founder of Live Action, a pro-life organization on campus. In March, she visited a Planned Parenthood clinic in Los Angeles armed with a hidden camera, posing as a 15-year-old who had been impregnated by her 23-year-old boyfriend.

Though California law requires abortion providers to report all cases of statutory rape to the police, a staff member at Planned Parenthood instructed Lila to lie about her age so she could protect her boyfriend and go through with an abortion.

Planned Parenthood: If you’re 15, we have to report it. If you’re not, if you’re older than that, then we don’t need to… So we still have to call the police, and they still have to talk to you, but we aren’t going to force you do anything, basically.
15-year-old: Okay, but if I just say I’m not 15, then it’s different? So I could just say…
Planned Parenthood: You could say 16.
15-year-old: I could say 16?
Planned Parenthood: Yes.
15-year-old: Okay, yeah. So I would just write 16?
Planned Parenthood: Well, just figure out a birth date that works. And I don’t know anything.

The spring quarter edition of Live Action’s student magazine The Advocate broke the story last Tuesday, including a link to access the hidden camera footage on YouTube. On Monday, Lila received a letter from Planned Parenthood threatening legal action if she didn’t stop her undercover investigations, remove her videos from YouTube, and turn the original tapes and all copies over to Planned Parenthood.

“If you do not agree to take these three steps, [Planned Parenthood] will seek all legal remedies with no further warning to you,” the letter warned.

Planned Parenthood Agreed to Accept Race-Motivated Donations

(CNSNews.com) - According to telephone conversations taped by a student pro-life publication, The Advocate, at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), Planned Parenthood locations in Ohio and Idaho agreed to accept money targeted at minorities even when racist intentions were expressed.

Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio confirmed to Cybercast News Service that the telephone conversation with a presumed donor occurred in mid-summer 2007, adding that it was not the policy of Planned Parenthood to accept donations specifically to underwrite abortions among minority women.

James O' Keefe, a first-year law student and an advisor for the The Advocate, made the telephone call posing as a potential donor to Planned Parenthood of Ohio.

The tape begins with a portion of the call in which O'Keefe confirms the location of the Planned Parenthood facility in Columbus, Ohio. According to Lila Rose, the editor-in-chief of The Advocate and a sophomore at UCLA, the tape then cuts to the relevant portion of the call in which O'Keefe offers a donation:

Those were the words that made protesting Planned Parenthood all the worthwhile outside a Hillary Clinton event yesterday in freezing weather, and those words contain the main objective of my post on why I am protesting Planned Parenthood.

Ever since I can remember, I have been pro-life. I was raised in a good Catholic family outside of Boston. My parents made sure that I knew what abortion was, and I grew up absolutely despising it and always talking to my friends about the truths of abortion all through school. It wasn't always easily, especially going to public school in a liberal state like Massachusetts.

While protesting Hillary outside, the vast majority of people attending her event refused to take our fliers as soon as they saw my sign, which said, "Planned Parenthood Hurts Women."

But what was so great about the fact that they would not take our fliers was because of the number of young children walking into the event with their parents. As soon as they saw that their parents refused to take the flyer (or some who made nasty comments), we could hear as the children would immediately start to question their parents on what what was wrong or what Planned Parenthood was.

As their voices drifted off as they entered the event, we could only hope for the best. That their child would soon learn about abortion, and start questioning what abortion was. We all know that if you explain what abortion is to a child, they will immediately reject the whole notion of it. The world, after all, is a much better place in the eyes of your common child in America.

But, I also want to emphasize something to pro-lifers: Start teaching your children about abortion and the evils of Planned Parenthood now. They are never too young to learn. The younger they are, the less swayed they will be by common culture and they will see what abortion is the way it is: the killing of an innocent child. Start teaching them pro-woman rhetoric to go along with abortion, such as the exact message on our sign: Planned Parenthood Hurts Women. Think about the rarity of the common student to go through school not ever discussing abortion or coming across a friend, or a friend-of-a-friend, in a crisis pregnancy. Your child could be the lifesaver, but you must plant the seeds.

I will also be grateful to my parents for teaching me about abortion at a young age. Please do not hesitate to do the same for your children.

OVER ABORTION RECORDS: COURT RECONSIDERS DECISION

WASHINGTON, D.C. (28 March 2008) — American Life League blasted Planned Parenthood’s attempt to withhold potentially incriminating records in the case of an abortion performed on a minor as “secretive” and suspicious. The Ohio State Supreme Court is reconsidering whether to allow the parents of a 14-year old, who got an abortion without their consent, to review records involving abortions performed on other minors.
"It's outrageous for Planned Parenthood to argue that routine business records are not pertinent to a lawsuit it is currently defending,” said Andrew Flusche, staff attorney for American Life League. “If a plaintiff sues a company about an activity, previous records about that same activity are routinely used in court."
Among the charges in the lawsuit, filed in 2005, Planned Parenthood is accused of performing an unlawful abortion on a minor by failing to obtain parental consent, failure to obtain informed consent from the girl and failure to report suspected child abuse. The parents of the child are seeking statistical data, not names, that may indicate wider violations.

"Planned Parenthood always claims patient confidentiality. But it's really focused on secrecy,” said Flusche. “The requested business records would be redacted of any identifying information, so no patient privacy would be breached. But Planned Parenthood is obviously afraid that something negative will come to light.”
Flusche added, “Honest people typically answer questions quickly and completely. If Planned Parenthood has nothing to hide, then they have nothing to fear by releasing those documents."
The Ohio case is the latest incident involving Planned Parenthood where instances of child abuse or statutory rape went unreported. In 2002, Life Dynamics exposed Planned Parenthood’s willingness to cover up statutory rape by legally recording over 800 phone conversations with Planned Parenthood representatives who told an actress posing as a 13 year old girl not to tell them she became pregnant by her 22 year old boyfriend. Just last year, student reporter Lila Rose exposed that Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles was willing to cover up statutory rape by posing as a pregnant 15 year old girl whose boyfriend was 22. The Planned Parenthood staffer told Lila to make up a date of birth so no record of statutory rape could be made.

"The Ohio Supreme Court obviously sees the importance of protecting our children from predators,” concluded Flusche. “Surely the Court will provide a just ruling and require Planned Parenthood to release its business records."

Cincinnati "Stop Planned Parenthood" Yard Signs Stolen

CINCINNATI, Ohio, July 31, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A campaign by citizens on Cincinnati's west side who displayed their opposition to the opening of a branch office of Planned Parenthood by posting yard signs which read, "Save Our Children, Stop Planned Parenthood," has been the victim of what appears to be an organized effort to steal all the signs in an attempt to silence the protest.
A press release from Protect Cincinnati, a grass-roots group organized to halt the encroachment of Planned Parenthood in the Western Hills and Greater Cincinnati community, states, "Only a few (signs) are visible because nearly all that citizens have put up have been stolen. Those stored in an alternate location have also been stolen, along with an additional supply of picketers' signs, t-shirts, and brochures."
Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Ohio recently bought the property at 2016 Ferguson Road in Western Hills under the name Mount Auburn Parking LLC. Planned Parenthood frequently uses the deception of acquiring property under a false name in order to deflect attention from its plans to enter a community.
This new PP branch office is located in a residential area, within a block of Western Hills High School. Students are bussed to Western Hills High School from other areas of the city, and the student population is predominately African American.
Planned Parenthood's aggressive targeting of minority populations for its services has been well documented.
Recently, Planned Parenthood has been purchasing property in areas of the US with higher African American populations, such as Aurora, Illinois, Houston, Texas, and Portland, Oregon.

Planned Parenthood Issues Christmas Gift Certificates:
Give the Gift of Abortion

Indianapolis, IN (LifeNews.com) -- In what could easily become the most offensive Christmas offer ever a Planned Parenthood affiliate is offering Christmas gift certificates. Purchasers can use them to give the gift of abortion even though the group claims that's not its purpose or intent.
"Looking for an unusual, yet practical gift this holiday season? Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPIN) is now offering gift certificates for services or the recipient's choice of birth control method," the abortion business says.
The gift certificates can be purchased in increments of $25 online at the group's web site or for any amount at some of PPIN's 35 statewide facilities.
While PPIN president and CEO Betty Cockrum says they can be redeemed for contraception, birth control and legitimate medical services like breast exams and Pap tests, they can also be used to pay for abortions.
"Why not buy a loved one a gift this holiday season that they really need," Cockrum says in a press release LifeNews.com obtained. "The gift certificates are also a wonderful idea for that person in your life who puts everyone else first."
"Please join Planned Parenthood of Indiana and give the gift of health this holiday season," she adds.
According to Chrystal Struben-Hall, PPIN's vice president, buyers of gift certificates can give the gift of death, too.
She confirmed to WISH-TV that they can be used for abortions, even though that's not the intended purpose.
"They really are intended for preventative healthcare. We decided not to put restrictions on the gift certificates so it's for whatever people feel they need the services for most," she said.
Indiana Family Institute President Curt Smith told the television station he is"appaled" by the gift certificates and thinks a better way to help women is to provide financial support for the dozens of pregnancy centers around the state.
"I think the way to help family planning is to give the money where there's no agenda. So if somebody wants to help a woman at a time of crisis, they can support the life centers throughout Indiana," he said.
