A Prayer

Eternal Father,

I offer You the Body and BLood, Soul and Divinity

Of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ,

In atonement for our sins

And those of the whole world.

And may the Blood and Water that came forth

From the Heart of Divine Mercy

Come upon you and give to you the healings that you need,

Especially the spiritual healings.

May He give to you the love and desire

To develop your relationship with Him through prayer.

And we ask all of this in Jesus' name.

Amen.

  • A Little Boy's Explanation of God -- Fabulous!!! Out of the mouths of the Babes--

I certainly don't think an adult could explain this more beautifully!

It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula Vista, CA. He wrote it for his third grade homework assignment, to "explain God" I wonder if any of us could have done as well?

[ .... and he had such an assignment, in California, and someone published it, I guess miracles do happen ! .. ]

EXPLANATION OF GOD: "One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grownups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn't have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers."

"God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because he hears everything, there must be a terrible lot of noise in his ears, unless he has thought of a way to turn it off."

"God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting his time by going over your mom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have."

"Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church."

"Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of him preaching to them and they crucified him But he was good and kind, like his father, and he told his father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said O.K."

"His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had done and all his hard work on earth so he told him he didn't have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So he did. And now he helps his dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones he can take care of himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important."

"You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time."

"You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God!

Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway."

"If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared, in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids."

"But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and he can take me back anytime he pleases.

And...that's why I believe in God."

Pope Benedict speaks about praying for the Poor Souls in Purgatory

In his Apostolic Exhortation, Sacrementus Caritatis (The Sacrament of Charity), Pope Benedict XVI highlights what is the source and summit of Christian life, the Eucharist. Among the awesome list of aspects of the Eucharist, emerges the Prayer for the Dead (32). Writes the Pope:

"The Eucharistic celebration, in which we proclaim that Christ has died and risen, and will come again, is a pledge of the future glory in which our bodies too will be glorified. Celebrating the memorial of our salvation strengthens our hope in the resurrection of the body and in the possibility of meeting once again, face to face, those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. In this context, I wish, together with the Synod Fathers, to remind all the faithful of the importance of prayers for the dead, especially the offering of Mass for them, so that, once purified, they can come to the beatific vision of God. A rediscovery of the eschatological dimension inherent in the Eucharist, celebrated and adored, will help sustain us on our journey and comfort us in the hope of glory (cf. Romans 5:2; Tit 2:13). The Eucharistic banquet comes to the aid of our freedom as we continue our journey and the freedom of the holy souls languishing in purgatory."

Getting Purged In Purgatory: How Long, How Long?

http://www.catholicexchange.com/node/66216

 Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great

Eternal Father, I offer thee the Most Precious Blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, foe sinners everywhere, foe sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family.---Amen

(Our Lord told St. Gertrude that this prayer would release 1000 souls from Purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was extended to include living sinners as well.)

Seeking forgiveness is sometimes difficult work. It is made easier by meeting people who, without trivializing our sins, assure us that God rejoices over our repentance. Being forgiven lifts a weight and prompts us to acts of charity.

Quote: "Let us raise ourselves from our fall and not give up hope as long as we free ourselves from sin. Jesus Christ came into this world to save sinners. ‘O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!’ (Psalm 95:6). The Word calls us to repentance, crying out: ‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest’ (Matthew 11:28). There is, then, a way to salvation if we are willing to follow it" (Letter of Saint Basil the Great.)

Your Catholic Voice

Father! We love You. Praise You. Thank You. Father we adore You. How good You are to us! Father You created us. You alone are the Creator. Thank You for our lives, for every breath we take and every beat of our hearts. Thank You.

Father, we wish to do Your Will. We wish to protect the innocent little babies. Our unborn little brothers and sisters die by abortion, 50 million every year, world-wide. The horror of this! - never in all of history has there been such bloodshed, such a slaughter of the innocents. Father, forgive us!

We need help, Father. How can this be stopped? Only by Your might! Please send Your Holy Spirit to infuse in our hearts a new boldness, a new willingness to STAND UP, every day, against the evil of abortion and all the crimes against life. We dedicate our lives, here and now to You, Father.

You are our Father and we love You.

Amen.

Papa, do you love me?

Parents and Grandparents take Notice

A very young grandfather was interrupted in his thoughts and his walk by his seven year old granddaughter's question.
"Papa, do you love me?" "Of course. Why do you ask?"
She tugged at his finger. When they walked she held on to one of his fingers , wrapping her little hand tightly. Their walk stopped.
"Papa, do you love me?" This time much more emphatic and impatient. He knelt down to look at her, their eyes meeting. She never looked away. Eye on eye. She could see into his soul. Seemed like that since the delivery room. What a day that was! She repeated, "Do you love me?"
"Listen to Papa. I do love you. With all my heart. Where is this coming from?"
"Becky says I'm gitimate, and I don't have a daddy, and momma got in trouble, and gitimate kids don't get loved."
Papa was stunned. "and who is Becky?" "You know, Becky at church." For a moment, Papa thought he might need to pay a visit to Becky at church and Becky's mom, who was known to be quite a talker.
As Papa tried to put into words what he felt, he looked into the eyes of this little seven year old girl who was much too soon, having to hear this stuff. Who talked like this about children? Suddenly, an emotional tidal wave swept over him.
In an instant he was re-living every emotion, back in the rocking chair, in his living room, exactly where he was sitting when he heard the news of his daughter's pregnancy. It was perhaps the most devastating news, the most painful experience of his entire life. He had wept uncontrollably. His dreams, her dreams, dashed. He remembered the bile rising. The spasms. The pain in his chest. A piano could not have weighed more if placed firmly on his solar plexus. He couldn't speak. He could barely breathe. He found it hard to focus, his vision, or his hearing.
And the emotions: Despair. Rage. Anger. Disappointment. Self doubt. Recriminations for not being a better father. More rage, this time directed at the boy. Oh yeah, "They were in love. He was going to do the right thing." Great plan. He could have literally taken the life of that boy, and felt no regret. A few years in prison would be a fair exchange. What to do. More weeping. Than just more pain. It seemed unbearable. It took a couple of days to even breathe properly.
Now as he looked into the eyes of this little girl, he remembered another thought. A filthy, vile, disgusting, embarrassing thought. For a few moments, off and on, over a few days, after he had first received this very unwelcome news, he had entertained the consideration of suggesting an abortion. He was a Christian, grounded in the faith from a tender age, and yet when faced with every implication of his daughter being an un-wed expectant teen age mother, he had temporarily wavered.
He was looking into the eyes of a child, that in a weak moment, a moment of absolute despair, he had thought of aborting. My God! My God! My God! Forgive me.
He reached fully around his granddaughter and hugged her so hard she squirmed. Tears rolled down his cheeks. She pulled back and looked at him completely puzzled.
"What's the matter Papa. Why did you get sad?"
"Papa's not sad honey. Papa's happy. Sometimes I get so happy, my eyes make lots of tears. Listen, let's talk about Becky, ok?" She nodded.
"Becky doesn't have it quite right. Are you listening to Papa?"
"Yeah. I'm listening."
"First of all, Papa is a pretty smart expert on one thing, and that is, there are no gitimate children. Second of all, you have two daddies. Becky just doesn't know it. You have a spiritual daddy. God is your spiritual daddy. You can't see Him but He can see you and He watches you all day and all night. He can't wait for you to get up in the morning. He thinks you are very special. And you have Papa. I'm not your daddy, but I'm your Papa, and I do love you, and I think about you all day, and I can't wait to see you and talk to you.
And one more thing. Your momma is terrific. She was very young when you were born. But you know what. She thought you being born was the most important thing in the world. It was no trouble. Ok? Do you understand Papa?"
She was a-ok. They continued their walk briefly before she asked, "Papa?"
"Yes"
"I'm tired of walking. Think we should get some ice cream?"
Papa thought that buying this ice cream might just be the most important appointment he could have in the entire world. How thankful the rocking chair experience, and all the thoughts he entertained in that chair were firmly and finally in the past. He thought he might just make a point of rocking this little girl in that chair today. Create a little different memory. Yes indeed. Today would be a good day for a rocking.
In a time, when confusing messages come from all quarters, and admittedly, sometimes even from those raised in the faith, it seems to us there are at least three important messages that need to be heard:
No matter how a baby started, that baby can be and should be loved. No matter how desperate the circumstances look to those closest to the expectant mom, someone should say, "We can do this, as a family, and make it work. We can do this."
And, to lonely scared Moms, "You are not, and you will not be alone."
Create options for walks by the ponds and shared ice cream, and rocks in the rocking chairs. Turn "someone in trouble" to "No Trouble."
Take a stand. Activate your faith.

  Act of Consecration to Mary Immaculate

Our Lady is the Patroness of the United States, under her title "the Immaculate Conception". Here is a prayer entrusting the U.S. into the care of Mary Immaculate; I've heard it was actually composed by Archbishop John Carroll, the first bishop of the United States!

Most Holy Trinity: Our Father in Heaven, who chose Mary as the fairest of Your daughters; Holy Spirit, who chose Mary as Your Spouse; God the Son who chose Mary as Your Mother, in union with Mary we adore Your Majesty and acknowledge Your supreme, eternal dominion and authority. Most Holy Trinity, we put the United States of America into the hands of Mary Immaculate in order that she may present the country to You. Through her we wish to thank You for the great resources of this land and for the freedom which has been its heritage. Through the intercession of Mary, have mercy on the Catholic Church in America. Grant us peace. Have mercy on our President and on all the officers of our government. Grant us a fruitful economy, born of justice and charity. Have mercy on capital and industry and labor. Protect the family life of the nation. Guard the precious gift of many religious vocations. Through the intercession of Our Mother, have mercy on the sick, the tempted, sinners - on all who are in need.

Mary, Immaculate Virgin, Our Mother, Patroness of our land, we praise you and honor you and give ourselves to you. Protect us from every harm. Pray for us, that acting always according to your will and the Will of your Divine Son, we may live and die pleasing to God. Amen.

Imprimatur: Patric O'Boyle, Archbishop of Washington May 8, 1959

LITANY TO JESUS IN THE WOMB OF MARY

Response to each invocation: Have mercy on us.

Jesus, knit so wonderfully in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, uniquely human from the moment of conception in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, present at creation, created in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, word made flesh, taking on a human body in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, subject to human development in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, whose Precious Blood first flowed through tiny arteries and veins in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, hidden nine months in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, begotten by God, nourished by the substance and blood of His Most Holy Mother in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, leaping from eternity into time, in the womb of Mary

Jesus, revealing with His Father and the Holy Spirit all wisdom and knowledge to His Most Holy Mother, in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, aware of His role as Redeemer in the womb of Mary , Jesus, Sanctifier of His Precursor from the womb of Mary,

Jesus, Eternal Word, Divine Child, embraced by the Father, in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, raising His Mother to the heights of sanctification, in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, everlasting delight of heaven, in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, manifesting His Incarnation to His Holy Mother, in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, adored and contemplated by His Mother in the sanctuary of her womb Jesus, before whom the angels prostrated themselves, in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, in whom the very angels beheld the humanity of the Infant God and the union of the two natures of the Word in the virginal womb of Mary,

Jesus, whose Holy Limbs first budded in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, whose Godhead the world cannot contain, weighing only a few grams in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, Divine Immensity, once measuring only tenths of an inch in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, Sacrificial Lamb, Docile Infant in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, who was to suffer the agony and passion of death, accepting the human capacity for pain and grief, in the womb of Mary,

Jesus, Lamb of God in the womb of Mary Spare us, O Lord.

Jesus, Holy Innocent in the womb of Mary Graciously hear us, O Lord.

Jesus, Son of God and Messiah in the womb of Mary Have mercy on us, O Lord.

Let us pray:

God, our creator, you formed us as women and men, equal partners in the stewardship of your world: joined forever as sisters and brothers, yet within each of us lives a rich diversity of different gifts, different hopes and different limitations. In Jesus, your word born fully in our flesh, you have seen and loved in us all that you have made us to be. Though graced, we are limited and often weak. But our weaknesses themselves are no obstacle to your passion for us. Teach us to see in ourselves what you have seen in each of us from birth. Teach us to know our gifts and limits. Keep us confidently on the path of self-knowledge, fullness of wisdom, and joy in being your children. We ask this through Christ and the Holy Spirit, with you, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

The above litany is the closing prayer from Prayers for Peace and Justice. Act Justly, Love Tenderly, Walk Humbly. The Holy Guardian Angel of the United States

Mother Church tells us that God appoints His angels as guardians, not just for every individual, but for every country as well. This means that the United States has a holy Angel watching over it! Though few U.S. Catholics seem aware of this celestial guardian, there is a statue of him on the grounds of the Blue Army Shrine in Washington, NJ. The following is the only prayer to our national Guardian Angel that I have ever seen.

O Glorious Guardian Angel of the United States, to whom God has entrusted the care of our beloved country, we honor you and thank you for the care and protection you have given to this great nation from the first moment of its inception. O Powerful Angel Guardian, whose watchful glance encompasses this vast land from shore to shore, we know that our sins have grieved you and marred the beauty of our heritage. Pray for us.

O Holy Angel, before the throne of God. Obtain for us, from the Queen of Heaven, the graces we need to overcome the forces of evil so rampant in our beloved land.

Help us, our God-given protector and friend, to respond wholeheartedly to the urgent pleas of the Mother of God at Fatima. Assist us to offer the prayer and sacrifice necessary to bring peace and goodness to our nation.

We want to make you known and loved throughout our land, so that with your help we may become once more "a Nation under God"!

ANYWAY

By: Mother Teresa

"People are unreasonable, illogical, and self center;
LOVE THEM ANYWAY.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
DO GOOD ANYWAY.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies;
SUCCEED ANYWAY.
The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow;
DO GOOD ANYWAY.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable;
BE FRANK AND HONEST ANYWAY.
When you spent years building may be destroyed overnight;
BUILD ANYWAY.
People really need help but attack you if you help them:
HELP ANYWAY.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth;
GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU'VE GOT ANYWAY.

 Fr. Petar Ljubicic Speaks About Life

The following question was asked of Fr. Petar Ljubicic ( the priest who will reveal the Medjugorje secrets to the world) at the Panel Discussion at the Notre Dame Medjugorje Conference on 5/27/07:

Q: Will God forgive abortion?

A: I would like you to know, and I have said it many times, that this is a great and grave crime, not just a sin, but a crime. The worst sin is of the first law of God (the First Commandment) – when a person abandons God and then turns to the wrong gods. And then after that, what follows is this sin of abortion. God is ready to forgive every sin if there is sincere repentance and a change of heart. That is what is necessary – that you are sorry and you decide not to do that any more. So God does forgive that sin.

But individuals must become conscious what a grave sin this is. When unbelievers do such deeds, he doesn’t or she doesn’t know this is such a grave sin, but when a believer, a Catholic, would do that, that is horrible.

Prevention of conception is also evil. You see, this is not only preventing conception, but it’s killing of a child a few days later. So “the pill” is also, in a sense, abortion. Such people should not receive the Eucharist, nor can they get absolution if they don’t decide to stop this. It is the same thing with those who use other means. That is the teaching of the Church.

One Catholic doctor told me – if a child was conceived 8 days before and a birth control pill is used 8 days during that time, it could happen that when she is at Mass on Sunday, that the birth control pill can be somehow killing the child during the time when she is receiving Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. I was speechless. I just want you to know what could happen. Therefore, we must pray that God will prevent us from accepting any such “play” with human life.

"People are unreasonable, illogical, and self center;
LOVE THEM ANYWAY.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
DO GOOD ANYWAY.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies;
SUCCEED ANYWAY.
The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow;
DO GOOD ANYWAY.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable;
BE FRANK AND HONEST ANYWAY.
When you spent years building may be destroyed overnight;
BUILD ANYWAY.
People really need help but attack you if you help them:
HELP ANYWAY.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth;
